North American T-6G Texan Model Airplane

This North American T-6G Texan Airplane Model comes with a customized detachable stand, a personalized inscriptions plaque and a laminated logo that adds magnificence into this detailed Display Model. North American T-6G Texan History: The North American T-6G was the primary trainer used by all branches of the U.S Miltary. The single-engine advanced trainer aircraft gained several names, T6, AT6, Harvard, SNJ depending which branch was flying the aircraft. The orginal aircraft designated the North American NA-16 first flew in 1935. About 800 of these aircraft were delivered to the USAAC and 400 went to the Royal Air Force of England. The name Harvard was given to the aircraft by both the RAF and the RCAF. It is suprizing how many of aircraft were produced. The aircraft was purchased as a primary trainer by several countries. There was a total of about 15,495 aircraft produced in all. Not so far beyond the aircraft's capability as a trainer it was also used during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. It was mostly used as a forward air control aircraft. These aircraft were designated the T-^ Mosquito. During the Kenya Conflict the RAF equipped the aircraft with Bomb carring capabilities and armed with machine guns and even rockets. It was the front runner aircraft for the RAF duing the conflict. The North American AT-6G Texan model was a re-built AT-6 and/or a T-6 aircraft in need of overhaul. Once Complete the model changed it's name to the AT6-G. The changes included an improved cockpit layout, more fuel, better landing gear with a steerable tailwheel, updated radios and a new 600 hp R1340-AN-1 Pratt and Whitney engine. Over 2068 aircraft were modified. |
