Boeing B-29 Superfortress History:

Boeing submitted the prototype for the B-29 long-range heavy bomber to the Army in 1939, before the United States entered World War II. B-29 prototype was submitted by Boeing to the Army in 1939 before United States entered World War II

The B-29 has guns that could be fired by remote control B-29 new features just to name a few. The B-29 was also the heaviest production plane due to increase in range, bomb load and defensive requirements.

Boeing B-29 Superfortress was used in the Pacific Theater during World War II. 1,000 B-29’s at that time bombed Tokyo, destroying large part of the city and on August 6, 1945, the B-29 Enola gay dropped the world’s first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. 3 days later a second B-29 Bockscar dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, shortly after that Japan Surrendered.
