History of the Helicopter Model Enstrom 480:

The Enstrom 480 is a single-turbo shaft light helicopter produced in the United States. Developed to meet a U.S. Army training requirement, however the Enstrom lost out to Bell Aircraft's entry. This did not stop Enstrom from following through with production. The first wide-cabin Enstrom 480-TH-28 was flown for first time in October 1989, with the first customer deliveries following FAA certification in 1994. The total number of Enstrom 480 helicopters deliveries has now exceeded 100+ aircraft.

Features of the 480 include the three-blade main rotor and a single Rolls-Royce/Allinson 250R turbo shaft power plant. Ordered with either fixed skids or pop-out floats, the helicopter features a tail boom with horizontal stabilizers and swept endplate fins at the rear and a large tail-skid for protection of the two-blade tail rotor.

The initial civil version of the Enstrom 480 featured four staggered seats or was convertible to a three-seat training aircraft and/or executive layout. The 480B featured enhancements and more powerful engine and has been available since early 2001. The 480B Guardian is the law enforcement variant with all the equipment to meet the needs of any law enforcement agency.
