Hawker 400XP History :

The Hawker 400 aircraft was originally designed as the Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond. Mitsubishi wanted to build a top of the line Corporate Jet hence the name Diamond. In May 1985 Beechcraft bought the rights to the aircraft and began manufacturing it under their brand as the Beechjet 400. After several productions models Beechcraft now in partnership with Raytheon developed their own improvements and renamed the aircraft to the 400A. This gave the aircraft longer range, higher take-off weight and a much improved cabin with more luxury.

An all glass cockpit was later added which gave some appeal to the U.S. Military Forces as a light Trainer for their Larger Tanker Aircraft like the KC 135. The U.S. Military ended up purchasing some 180 aircraft between 1992 and 1997 designating the aircraft the T-1A Jayhawk. Another version was sold to Japan Air Self Defense Force as the T-400 Trainer.

Raytheon/Beechcraft purchased the entire Hawker Business Jet Product Line in 1993. This gave Raytheon/Beechcraft a complete line of Business Jets from the smaller Beechjet 400A to the larger Hawker 800XP. Keeping in line with the Hawker aircraft naming profile the company now called Hawker/Beechcraft renamed the 400 to the Hawker 400XP. Hawker/Beechcraft then decided to up -grade the older 400XP with the 450XP. The 450XP has several up- grades compared to the older 400XP. Larger engines with the Pratt and Whitney Canada PW535D models and a more advance glass cockpit in the Collin Pro Line 21 Avionics suite.
