Mooney M20-L History:

This popular single-piston light touring aircraft has been in production in various forms since the original Mooney M.20 from 1953. With over 10,000 aircraft produced of all variants, the improved Mooney was put into production following the acquisition of Mooney by the Republic Steel Company in late 1973. Initially, the Mooney M.20 Ranger, Chaparral, and Executive were produced before a new line of M.20 aircraft emerged in 1976 with a more streamlined exterior, new windscreen, and rounded-off window. Several models remain in production with total aircraft deliveries of the improved Mooney M.20 in excess of 4145 aircraft.

The improved Mooney M.20 aircraft feature a low straight dihedral wing with wing glove and powered by a single Continental, Lycoming, or Porsche engine with two-or three-blade propeller. Styling features include two cabin windows on each side, a forward swept tailfin with dorsal fillet, and low-set tail plane. The Mooney features retractable tricycle landing gear.
