Boeing F-18E Super Hornet History :

The McDonnell Douglas Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet the U.S. Navy’s newest carrier supersonic carrier-capable fighter/ground-attack aircraft. The F/A-18E is a single seater while the F/A-18F is two-seater . Both aircraft are more advanced derivatives of the older F/A-18C and D Hornet. The Super Hornet came on board the greatest and largest Aircraft Carriers in 2006 replacing the older F-14 Tomcats. The Super Hornets differs greatly than the earlier F-18 Hornets with advanced flight navigational aids and larger weapons carrying capabilities. The Super Hornet is 20% larger with a longer range and much heavier takeoff weight than the earlier models.

The F-18 Super Hornet has one of the most advanced radar systems on board. The AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR (Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infra Red). The AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR gives flight crews night vision as well as long range targeting capabilities. It is also hooked to t an Integrated Defensive Countermeasures System to keep the bad guys at a distance.
