Cirrus SR22 G3 History:

The Cirrus SR22 G3 is a single engine, four-seat, composite aircraft. Following production of the SR20 Cirrus wanted an aircraft with more performance. In 2007 Cirrus introduced yet another version of the popular SR 20 aircraft in the SR 22 G3. The G3 represents the third generation of the Cirrus line of aircraft. The new SR22 G3 sits taller on the landing gear by 2 to 3 inches. This allows for greater propeller and tail clearance. The SR22 G3 also incorporates a new wing that is three feet longer with a strengthened carbon-fiber spar that allows an increase of useful load. The increased dihedral improved the aerodynamics and the aircrafts handling. The new wing also gave the SR 22 G3 greater climb performance and increased cruise speeds of 6-7 Knots. The new wing is a wet wing that increased the fuel capacity to 56 US Gallons.

The Cirrus SR22 G3 has a non-retractable landing gear. The Cirrus SR22 G3 is equipped with the Cirrus Aircraft Parachute System or CAPS. The CAPS is an emergency parachute that is capable of lowering the entire aircraft to the ground in the event of an emergency. The Cirrus SR22 G3 is one of the only production aircraft to use such a system.
