Beechcraft B200 GT King Air History : When the then Beechcraft Company, now Hawker Beechcraft, decided to enter the Corporate Business Twin Turbo Prop market and designed the King Air line of aircraft they not only gained a share of that market, they over took the complete market. The Beechcraft Super King Air family is a series of aircraft varying in size and capacity for any need a Corporation would desire. The family consists of the Model 90, 100, 200 and 300 series. The King Air 200 and 300 series were first marketed as the Super King Air but that name was dropped in 1996. They are now all known simply as the King Air. The King Air family has been in continuous production since 1974, the longest production run of any civilian turboprop aircraft in its class. No other Aircraft manufacture can make that claim. About the only aircraft that competes with the King Air Family is the Piaggio Avanti. The King Air has been sold in just about every country in the world and used by every organization imaginable, including several countries military as a VIP transport. In December of 2008 Hawker/Beechcraft decided to drop most of the series and have continued with the B200, B200GT and the larger B300 series. Hawker/Beechcraft continues to offer Special Mission Derivatives of these models for special orders. |
