Piaggio P.180 Avanti History:

The Piaggio P.180 Avanti is a twin-engine business airplane created by Piaggio Aero. it is certified for a single-pilot operation and seats up to nine passengers.

In September 23, 1986 Piaggio flew the first of two P.180 prototypes, The second aircraft flew in May 1987 and was granted Italian certification in March 1990. The P.180 is unique with a Canard lifting surface attached to the front of the fuselage. The Fuselage is a one piece spun composite material, the first aircraft to use this technology. The wings use a single sheet composite material fastened over aluminum Ribs eliminating the need for conventional use of rivets. This gives the wing a super smooth surface.
