Piper 180C Cherokee History:

The Piper 180C Cherokee is an all metal four (4) seat single engine aircraft that is still being produced by The New Piper Co. The design is ideal for Flight Training, Air Taxi and Personal use. Thousands have been built and sold to the private pilot for family use. The aircraft first appeared on the market back in 1960 as a low wing unpressured aircraft. Several variations of the Cherokee have come off the Piper Production Line from the first Piper PA-28 to the aircraft shown here, the “C” Model up to the Cherokee Six which can accommodate seating up to six (6) passengers including the pilot.

The Piper PA-28-180 came to production in 1962 powered by a 180 Horsepower Lycoming O-360 engine. With an engine install of this size the Piper 180 became known as a real performer. Even with four passengers the aircraft is capable of performing to the joy of the Pilot. In 1973 the Cherokee 180 saw a name change to the Cherokee Challenger. The Challenger had a lengthened fuselage and a slightly larger wing slightly increasing the aircrafts performance. Throughout the years this aircraft has been enjoyed by several Private Pilots and seen in Commercial use too!
