Cessna Citation Excel (Model 560XL)History:

The Cessna Citation Excel (Model 560XL) has become a trade mark name for all of Cessna's line of Turbo Fan Powered business jets. There are six distinct families of the Citation. The Citation 500, which later became the Citation I started the ball rolling for a proporous endevor for Cessna. The Cessna Citation II, Model 550, followed with a longer Cabin and improved instrument pannel in 1976. It is still the standard of small corporate jets the industry tries to match. The only different between the Citation II and the Citation II SP is the SP was certified single pilot. Several Military Orginizations use several Cessna Citations in various roles, from V.I.P. to Training.

The Citation Excel used a shortened Citation X Fuselage and the Citation Ultra's stright wing, and tail. New more power engines were installed to give the aircraft the performance all of Cessna's Turbo Fan Powered aircraft enjoy. The Pratt and Whitney Canada PW525A Turbo Fans with Electronic control was chossen. The Citation Excel XLS+ used the same engine with a FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) controlled fuel flow. The Excell also has a true stand up cabin giving the feeling of a larger jet. Truely one of the best aircraft Cessna produced.
