Bell 427 Helicopter History:

The Bell 427 helicopter is a twin-engine, multirole, light utility helicopter designed by Bell Helicopter and Samsung Aerospace Industries. It was the first Bell helicopter to be designed entirely on a computer. The 427?s flight dynamics systems are built at Bell?s Fort Worth, Texas plant, while the fuselage and tailboom are built by Samsung at its Sachon plant in South Korea. Final assembly is performed at Bell?s Mirabel, Quebec facility. Bell 427 helicopters are powered by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW207D turboshaft engines with FADEC. The 427 uses a four-blade main rotor system with a rigid, composite rotor hub and a two-blade tail rotor and its cabin primarily consists of composite construction. The maiden flight of the Bell 427 was on 11 December 1997 and it received US FAA Certification in January 2000. This helicopter can cruise at 159 miles per hour and has a range of 453 miles. It can accommodate two pilots and seven passengers. Production was discontinued on the 427 in 2010 after the introduction of the Bell 429.
