Piper Cherokee PA-28-140 History:

The piper Cherokee is a family of light aircraft designed for flight training, air taxi service, and personal use and is manufactured by Piper Aircraft. All PA-28 aircraft are an all-metal, unpressurized, single-engine, piston powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and a tricycle landing gear. They all have a single door on the co-pilot side of the aircraft that is entered by stepping on the wing. The Cherokee?s maiden flight was on 14 January 1960 and it received FAA Certification the same year. Production of the Cherokee started in 1961 and the original production models were the PA-28-150 and the PA-28-160. The last three digits of the model number indicate the number of horsepower produced by the engine of the aircraft. In 1964 Piper filled in the bottom end of the line with the PA-28-140 that was designed as a two seat trainer aircraft and received initial FAA Certification on 14 February 1964. It later had a slight engine upgrade that produced 150 horsepower but Piper decided to retain the PA-28-140 designation and this model was certified as a four place aircraft on 17 June 1965. This model is equipped with the Lycoming O-320-E2A 150 hp engine with a Sensenich M74DM propeller that can pull this airframe along at a cruise speed of 124 miles per hour for a distance of 538 miles. The Piper Cherokee and its other variants have been so popular over the years that over 33,000 aircraft have been built and delivered to flying clubs and private owners all over the world!

To whom it may concern:

I just had to write you to let you know how pleased I am with my display model. It far exceeds my expectations! Your modelers are the finest that I know of. I have a fairly large number of display aircraft and none are as precise as this one.

From my initial call to discuss having the model created to delivery has been a seemless process. Providing photos of the completed model, before shiping, is a great customer satisfaction concept. Your employee with whom I originally talked with was very knowledgable. I am in the process of gathering photos and information for having you make additional display models. I only wish I used your Company when I started collecting wood display models.

Again, my deepest appreciation for the quality. Look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Regards,

Robert H. Lehmann
