Cessna UC-78 T-17 T-50

The Cessna T-50 was a 'family aircraft, which had a good reputation because it had good flying qualities and was safely and economically. When the war broke out, it was only just started the series for the civil construction market. The Cessna T -50 indication was given when the UC-78 and pipeline equipment were quickly modified to meet the requirements of the military.

In the first year there were 1,287 aircraft built (UC-78), while in addition to this series models were built as a transition trainer, A T-8 and A T-17. Bobcat of the following versions were developed: UC-78A (17 units, equal to the previous version), UC-78B (wooden instead of metal screws, 1806) and the UC-78C (327 units ordered, originally named AT -17D).

Trainer version of the AT-8 were only 33 built, they had two Lycoming R-680-9 engines of 225 hp each. Then, all versions of the Cessna T-50 is equipped with Jacobs R-775 9 engines. The AT-17 (1942) was developed from the A T-8 (Jacobs engines) and the military bought 450 of these units. The next version was the AT-17A (223 pieces), which screws with wooden blades and then had yet to indicate A T-17C (466 pieces later as UC-78 were identified). Finally, there were still 60 AT-17D in 1942, a new type of radio equipment had.

There was a large number of A Cessna T-8 aircraft purchased by the British Committee for the purchase of Canadian pilots training. These aircraft were known as the Cessna Crane I. Unlike their American counterparts, the English AT ~ 8IS equipped with two Jacob, L4MB engines. There were 640 crane l's used by the Canadian Air Force. The American UC-78 was used by large numbers of Air Transport Command.

After the war, a large aantol Bobcats purchased by small airline companies, both in Europe and America. Some of these aircraft still fly.

The Cessna T-50 was following nicknames: The Bamboo Bomber, Useless-78, The Wichita Wobbler, Brasshat, Double-Breasted Cub, Boxkite, Rhapsody in Glue, San Joaquin Beau Fighter.
