Vultee A-31 Vengeance History

The Vultee A-31 Vengeance was supplied to the allied air forces under Lend Lease at early stages of World War II. This aircraft served with the Royal Air Force, Australia, Brazil and the Free French Air Force. By late 1944 it was replace in front line service and usually converted to a target towing aircraft. This aircraft proved vital to the RAF operations in Burma in 1943-44 as it was one of the few dive bomber aircraft available in the theater. The US Army Air Force used this aircraft in limited numbers but the improved A-35 model was used for training purposes by many thousands of allied pilots.
