Beechcraft G-90 GTi King Air History: There is no mistake that Beechcraft set the standard for Twin Engine Turbo Prop Aircraft with their King Air Series. The series starts with the 90’s then progresses with the 100’s, 200, 300, and last but not least is the King Air 350. The King Airs have been used in every aviation application one can imagine. From Private to Corporate, Air Ambulance, even the military utilizes the King Air for several military roles. One of the first Presidential Aircraft used was a King Air. First production started in 1964 and remains in and the King Air Family continues in production today, however, it now faces completion form the small jet aircraft like the Cessna Mustang but will never lose a portion of the aviation market. The King Air 90 was developed during the 1960’s. Test flights began as soon as May 1963 using a Queen Air equipped with Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-6 Turbo Prop engines installed. By the end of 1966 there were over 112 aircraft delivered, some to the U.S. Army. As the aircraft gained a rapid popularity two years later another 206 units had been delivered. During the Oshkosh Air Show in July 2005 Beechcraft displayed the C90GT. The Beechcraft C90GT had larger engines installed with the Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-135 engines installed producing 750 Shaft Horse Power a side. With the more powerful engines installed the aircraft’s performance increased dramatically. It had much better climb, cruise and lower operating temperatures for the engines prolonging the life of the engines. The C90GTi was an updated version featuring the Rockwell Proline 21 Avionics Cock Pit. Deliveries started in 2008 after 97 C90GT’s had all ready reached their new owners. |
