B-58A Hustler History:

Convair B-58 Hustler was the first bomber heavy supersonic history of the [lack of In 1956 broke several world records for speed and distance. Been in service in the USAF about ten years between 1960 and 1970. It had a crew of only three men. Intended to replace the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress (which had a crew somewhere between six to eight men) but its high fuel consumption and lower their ability to have weapons in operationally unviable for the goals of the Air Force of the United States.

The Convair Model 4 was one of the most ambitious avões to fight of all time. Its creators have done a supersonic bomber with capsules of escape for the crew of three men seated in tandem in individual booths, a fuselage surface regularly, a large delta wing that supported four engines and a suspended structure which employed the widely panels covering interlaminar alveolar . On land this model is highlighted by the height of its chassis, which was designed to lead to huge capsule carrying a nuclear weapon and much of the fuel for missions over large distances, being launched on the board.

The fact that such an ambitious project was carried out was a huge success, including major advances in aerodynamics, structures and materials. The radical nature of the whole program is evident by the fact that the two prototype XB-58 followed by 28 other YB-58B aircraft for flight testing. Some of them turned to aircraft recognition later on strategic RB-58A and other aircraft in the training of conversion with double command TB-58A. The bomber was operating the B-58A, which were manufactured 86, who had the opportunity to carry a double compartment, where the highest and lowest fuel contained several advanced sensors or weapon. The Hustler was the first bomber that went from Mach 1 and broke many records for speed and autonomy. However, while impressive, were too complex and difficult to remain economically and therefore was retired in January 1970, as its Preservation represented a very high cost.

The B58A was converted to bomber production, While the RB-58A was converted to recognition and TBN-58A was converted to training aircraft.
